The Basics

What Is a Vape Kit?

A vape kit is the device itself plus everything you need to get it running. Inside the box you'll usually find a battery (the main body that you charge with a USB cable), a coil (a small heating element that turns e-liquid into vapour), and a pod or tank (the bit that holds the liquid and sits on top of the battery).

You press the button or just inhale, the battery sends power to the coil, the coil heats the liquid, and you get vapour with nicotine in it. That's the whole process. For someone switching from cigarettes or stepping away from disposables, a kit is the sensible starting point. You get a reliable device, replaceable parts, and a running cost that drops sharply once you're past the first purchase.

Since the Ban

Disposable Vape Alternatives

The single-use disposable ban came into force on 1 June 2025, so if you're looking for something that feels familiar, you've got two genuinely good options.

The first is a prefilled pod kit. You charge the battery and click in a sealed pod of e-liquid. When it's empty, swap the pod for a fresh one. No filling, no mess. The second is a big puff vape, a rechargeable device with a large internal tank, often rated up to 50,000 puffs.

Right for you if you liked the grab-and-go simplicity of disposables and want running costs to drop.
Wrong for you if you want full flavour and nicotine control. Go refillable instead.

Most Popular

Pod Vape Kits

Pod kits are the most popular style of vape in the UK. They're small, they fit in a pocket, and they give you a tight cigarette-like draw on nicotine salt e-liquid, a smoother type of nicotine that absorbs quickly and is ideal for ex-smokers.

There are two types. A prefilled pod kit uses sealed pods you click in and throw away when empty, like the Lost Mary BM6000. A refillable pod kit has an empty pod that you fill yourself from a bottle of e-liquid, like the OXVA Xlim or Vaporesso XROS.

Right for you if you want a discreet device, a satisfying tight draw, and a kit that lasts months.
Wrong for you if you want huge clouds and a loose airy draw. Pod kits aren't built for that.

New to Vaping

Vape Starter Kits

A starter kit is built around one idea: get a new vaper up and running with no faff. That means a simple device (usually just one button, or no button at all), a tight MTL draw (mouth-to-lung, the same way you'd pull on a cigarette), and pairing with nicotine salts at 10mg or 20mg.

You'll find options from Vaporesso, OXVA and more in our starter kits range, all chosen because they work reliably and are easy to maintain from day one.

Right for you if you've just quit cigarettes or disposables and want something that just works.
Wrong for you if you're an experienced vaper chasing big clouds. You'll find a starter kit underpowered.

Up to 50,000 Puffs

Big Puff Vapes

Big puff vapes are rechargeable devices with a refillable tank built in, often rated for 6,000 up to 50,000 puffs across the life of the coil and battery. You charge them by USB-C and refill the tank from a 10ml bottle of e-liquid.

The draw, shape and feel are deliberately close to a disposable, just with a much lower running cost and a fraction of the waste. Lost Mary and Hayati lead this category, and both are well stocked here.

Right for you if you liked your disposable and want the closest legal swap available.
Wrong for you if you want to change flavours every few hours. A refillable pod kit suits that better.

The Device
The battery body. Always included.
🔌
USB-C Cable

Worth knowing: Almost no UK vape kit includes e-liquid in the box, because nicotine-containing liquid must be sold separately under TPD rules. Many kits also don't include a mains plug, just the USB cable. Every product page on our site lists exactly what's in the box for that specific kit.

About Our Range

Vape Kits UK from The Vape House

The Vape House has been selling vape kits from our Caerphilly shop in South Wales since 2015. Ten years on, we still run the business the same way: stock the kits we'd recommend to a friend, explain them honestly, and steer people away from anything that won't suit them. Every product we sell is TPD-compliant, which is the UK regulation that caps tank size at 2ml, bottle size at 10ml, and nicotine strength at 20mg. We only sell to adults aged 18 and over.

Since the disposable vape ban came into force in June 2025, most of our customers are either switching across from single-use devices or stepping up from their first pod kit. Our range covers all of it. Browse vape starter kits for your first device, prefilled pod kits for disposable-style simplicity, refillable pod kits for lower running costs, and big puff vapes for the closest legal replacement to a disposable. By brand, you'll find dedicated collections for OXVA vape kits, Vaporesso vape kits, Lost Mary vape kits and Hayati vape kits.

Delivery is free on orders over £21, tracked all the way. Order before 2pm Monday to Saturday and your kit goes out the same day.

Common Questions

Vape Kits FAQ

For most beginners, a simple refillable pod kit like the OXVA Xlim or Vaporesso XROS is the best starting point. They're small, easy to fill, and give you that tight cigarette-style draw on nicotine salts. If you've come from disposables and want something even simpler, a prefilled pod kit removes the filling step entirely.
A prefilled pod comes filled with e-liquid already. You click it in, vape it, throw the empty pod away, click in a new one. A refillable pod has an empty pod that you fill yourself from a bottle of e-liquid. Prefilled is easier. Refillable is cheaper to run and gives you far more flavour choice.
Yes, vape kits are fully legal in the UK for adults aged 18 and over. Every kit we sell complies with TPD regulations, which cover tank size, nicotine strength and packaging standards. The June 2025 ban was specifically on single-use disposable vapes, not on refillable kits or rechargeable devices.
For pod kits and starter kits, you want nicotine salts (often labelled "nic salts") at 10mg or 20mg. These are smoother on the throat and absorb quickly, which is what ex-smokers need. Avoid high-VG shortfill liquids in pod kits, as they're too thick for the small coils and will cause dry hits.
Almost. The kit will have the device, pod or tank, coil, spare coil and charging cable. What's not included is e-liquid, which has to be bought separately under UK law. Some kits also don't include a mains plug, just the USB cable. Each product page lists the exact contents so you know what to add to your basket.
The brands we recommend most often are OXVA for reliable refillable pod kits, Vaporesso for build quality across the range, Lost Mary for disposable-style prefilled and big puff devices, and Hayati for big puff vapes with strong battery life. All four have earned their place by lasting and working properly, not by marketing.
If you smoked 15 or more cigarettes a day, or used disposables heavily, go for 20mg nic salts. If you smoked under 10 a day, 10mg is usually enough. If you find yourself vaping constantly and still feeling unsatisfied, your strength is too low. If you feel light-headed or get a harsh hit, it's too high.
Nic salts work best in pod kits and starter kits designed for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping. They're not suited to high-powered sub-ohm devices because the nicotine hit becomes too strong at high wattages. If you're using a pod kit from our range, nic salts are exactly what you want.
